Children Statistics have shown that over 32 million children live on streets in Africa. In Nigeria alone, the number of orphans and vulnerable children (OVC) is estimated at 17.5 million, out of which 7.3 million are orphaned by HIV/AIDS. In an effort to substantially alleviate generational cycles of poverty and disease, African Child Care Foundation (ACCF) has experienced and executed a number of projects in many African communities, especially in the South Eastern Nigeria where a significant number of children, youths and families live in extreme poverty. The projects focused primarily on vocational education, basic healthcare/psychosocial support, rural water supply and feeding scheme.
